Although the opening acts dragged a bit, headliners Big Time Rush did not disappoint with their performance last night at Blossom Music Center. With their most recent album Elevate an endless well of summery pop songs, their concert here came at a perfect time.
The Nickelodeon-approved quartet showed off their various talents with acrobatics, choreography, and powerful vocals. The audience, made up predominantly of thousands of screaming girls between the ages of 10 and 16, cheered on every moment like it was the greatest thing they ever saw.
The group kept its set flowing smoothly throughout the show, but the biggest cheers came during “Boyfriend,” one of Elevate's most popular songs.
They kept things moving with fast wardrobe changes and full use of an elaborate multilevel set, which was equipped with a moving platform and trampoline.
Plus, they know how to work a crowd. During the fan favorite “Halfway There,” the group — Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena Jr., and Logan Henderson — left the stage and stepped into the audience to perform the song. And later in the set, each member went into the crowd to pick out a lucky girl to serenade.
Wrapping up, Big Time Rush performed a short medley of Beatles songs — including “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Help!” — before the night's final two songs, “Windows Down” and “Til I Forget About You,” were delivered with backflips and a continuous shower of sparks.
